Julius Baker was once a spokesperson for Yamaha, and YFL61 was the model that he marketed. Despite the star power, the flute didn’t catch on among college and professional musicians.
The tonal quality of this flute is reminiscent of a Muramatsu from the same era. The sound is sweet and lyrical. The pads are relatively new, and the flute plays very well in its current condition. It is an excellent flute for a doubler or serious intermediate student.
